CORONAVIRUS - THE PARISH COUNCIL IS CO-ORDINATING SUPPORT

A Message from Nick Adams, Chairman Ringland Parish Council

The Coronavirus situation has escalated more rapidly than anyone expected and everyone is now affected by the latest government restrictions on travel and socialising. We have had a good initial response to our request for volunteers who are prepared to help those in the village who need support and I just wanted to thank those who have signed up.

Several households in the village have told us that they are self-isolating (and obviously most are now effectively in that position) but at this stage no one has reported any confirmed Coronavirus cases in the village or made any specific requests for help or support from our volunteers. As time passes this will almost certainly change and when it does we will ensure that all support possible will be offered to those who need it. We are in contact with the district council and are part of their local support group network.  We are in the process for applying for a grant which, assuming it is approved, will give us funds to allow us to cover any expenses incurred by the volunteers as well as to directly help those who need support.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself or Lindy Cooper if you either want to add your names to the list of volunteers or if you or your friends and neighbours need any help or support, even if it’s just someone to talk to.  We cannot safely distribute paper flyers around the village at this time so please pass this message on to anyone you think may not see it by phoning them or shouting from a safe distance!

Best wishes and stay safe,

The Parish Council consists of seven people elected to represent the residents of Ringland.

Parish Councillors serve a four year term of office. A list of Councillors and how to contact them can be found on the Parish Councillor's page. The Council has a wide range of powers which essentially relate to local matters, such as looking after community buildings, open spaces and common land, and to overall manage the parish assets.

The Council has powers to create Bye-Laws to protect Parish land.     (See Commoners Rights & Access to Common Land Page)

The Council also liaises with Broadland District Council and Norfolk County Council on various matters such as fly tipping, foot ways, highways, trees, recycling, environmental issues, and also with the Police and other bodies.

Currently all members live within the Parish of Ringland and are pro-active for the benefit of the village attending not only the parish council meetings but meetings with other organisations.

Members are also actively involved in work throughout the village or managing needed tasks such as cutting the grass on the village green and  maintaining the common lands and the Village Hall (formerly The Reading Room).

Ordinary meetings of the Parish Council are normally held in Ringland Village Hall on the third Thursday of every odd month. Additional and extra-ordinary meetings can also be scheduled and details of each meeting is available above.

Click here for the protocol regarding attendance at Parish Council meetings. It is hoped you find the meetings useful. If you have any queries please consult the Clerk - details can be found on the Contact Information page
